Plain-English summary: This website (sauron.so) uses minimal cookies: mainly session cookies required for the Shopify admin app to function, and the Shopify-standard OAuth flow. Our website analytics are cookieless — they store nothing on your device, which is why you see no cookie banner here. We do not use advertising cookies. We do not inject any cookies into your customers' storefront. The interactive tools on this site (SEO checklist) use localStorage, not cookies.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site owners. This policy explains what cookies we use and why.
2. Cookies on sauron.so (this marketing website)
The sauron.so marketing website sets no analytics or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any advertising or retargeting scripts.
We do use a privacy-respecting product analytics tool, PostHog, to understand which pages people read and which features they're interested in. We run it in cookieless mode: it keeps its state in the page's memory for the duration of your visit and writes nothing to your device. Because nothing is stored on your device, no consent banner is required, and if you return tomorrow you are counted as a new visitor — we accept that loss of accuracy deliberately.
What it records: the pages you view, the page you arrived from, any campaign tags in the link you followed, and whether you clicked our "install" buttons. Requests are routed through sauron.so/ingest rather than a third-party domain, so an ad-blocker doesn't distort the numbers. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.

3. Cookies in the Shopify admin app
When you use Sauron inside your Shopify admin, the following cookies may be present:

These cookies are strictly necessary for the App to function and cannot be disabled without breaking the Service. They do not track you across other websites.
4. Cookies we do NOT use
- Advertising or retargeting cookies (Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, etc.)
- Analytics cookies — our website analytics run cookieless and store nothing on your device (see section 2)
- Cross-site tracking of any kind: we do not follow you to other websites, and we do not share visitor data with advertisers or data brokers
- Session recording or screen replay
- Cookies placed on your customers' Shopify storefront; we do not inject any scripts or cookies into your store's frontend
5. Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential session cookies will prevent the Shopify admin app from functioning. Each browser manages cookies differently; consult your browser's help documentation for instructions.
