What does this scanner actually check?
It crawls your public storefront and scores how well it's structured to be read and cited by AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) across six dimensions: AI crawler access, structured data, llms.txt, answerable content, entity clarity, and meta fundamentals. It's crawl-only — it never touches your Shopify admin or any private data.
Is this the same as the AI visibility tracking feature?
No. This free scanner is a one-off readiness score — how prepared your store is to be cited. The paid AI Visibility Tracking feature (on Growth and Scale) measures whether ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews actually mention and cite your store, over time, and benchmarks you against competitors.
Do I need to install anything to run the scan?
No signup, no install. Enter your store URL and you get the score in your browser. Installing Sauron is how you fix what the scan finds — schema, meta, llms.txt and content structure are largely automated.
