Getting started, and the questions people ask first.

Sauron does most of its setup itself. There are five things worth knowing, and one of them — connecting Search Console — is the only step that genuinely needs you.

Five steps, start to published

  1. 01

    Install it

    From the Shopify App Store listing, or the direct link we send you if you're in the beta. Sauron installs like any other app and opens inside your Shopify admin — there's nothing to host and no code to paste.

  2. 02

    Let the first run finish

    It starts on its own. Sauron reads your storefront to learn how you write, scans your catalog, works out what your shoppers actually search for, looks for collections you're missing, writes your SEO copy and plans your blog. On a normal catalog this is the first hour, and you can watch it happen.

  3. 03

    Connect Google Search Console

    This is the one setup step worth doing by hand, because it's the only way either of us can measure whether any of this worked. The connect button is on Quick wins and on Results in the sidebar, and in Settings. It's a Google sign-in; nothing is published to Google on your behalf.

  4. 04

    Read what it wrote

    Every change waits in a list with the old version beside the new one. Collections, Products and Blog Posts each have their own screen. Nothing reaches your storefront while you're reading — if you disagree with a line, edit it or throw it away.

  5. 05

    Publish, or let it publish

    Approve changes yourself, or switch Autopilot on and Sauron publishes on a weekly schedule. Either way it keeps the last 10 versions of everything it touches, so any published change can be put back the way it was.

Four things, all of them real Shopify records rather than an overlay: the page title and meta description on products and collections, brand-new collection pages for categories you sell in depth but have no page for, blog articles, and — if you switch it on — a link exchange with another store in your niche. It does not touch your prices, your inventory, your orders, or your theme.
